Grey’s Anatomy
Farting, cheating, stealing, murdering, and screwing on every accommodating surface. I don’t understand the attraction.
My wife has become a fan of Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve watched a few of the shows, and find it to be based on 8 year-old humor. Where is the intellectual stimulation of “House”? Where are the family values of “Ugly Betty”? Where is the edginess of “24″? All I find in this toilet of a program is exactly what you would find in a toilet. A lot of drek. It’s dressed up; but it’s still drek.
Most people don’t truly act like these sad characters. They don’t pin their panties to staff bulletin boards. They don’t steal hearts from people who deserve them for people who don’t. They don’t inherit 3.7 million dollars and keep the check on their fridge door. And most people, especially most young women, don’t have sex 20 times per day in operating rooms.
I know lots of people like this show. I don’t know why. From my point of view I find it offensive to my intelligence, offensive to my values, and just plain offensive.

You also might like “MI-5,” seasons 1, 2, 3…. (a sort of BBC “24″). Try the original “La Fea Mas Bella”, it’s on now, though it’s been on since last Jan. Or, for some values/moral wrestling, there’s “Ballykissangel,” seasons 1, 2, and 3.
Yet, if you really want to get stimulated, try “The Decalogue”. Then try, in order, “The Double Life of Veronique”, “Blue”, “White”, “Red” all by Krzysztof Kieslowski (and then anything else by him).
I love “House”, esp., season 1. But, I wonder if it won’t be jumping the shark very soon.
